Here are 3 ideas from me, 2 quotes from others, and 1 question to ponder this week.
🚀 3 Ideas From Me
I. Insight On Parenting
Last Sunday, my 8-year-old daughter surprised me with a gift that touched me deeply. She handed me a piece of art she had made—a simple yet meaningful creation that captured her favorite memories with me. Her list of what she thinks I always carry in my pockets made me smile: hankies and a wallet.
But what struck me was how she included Fernando Florian’s quote she’s heard from me countless times: “I’d rather be one hour early than one minute late.”
Hearing my words echoing back to me through her drawing was humbling and heartwarming. It reminded me that the little things we say and do as parents often leave a bigger impact than we realize.
Children can soak up everything around them, including the values we try to instill. This small gift was a gentle reminder that every word we speak and every action we take carries weight.
It’s a humbling experience to realize just how much of an influence we have on their view of the world.
II. On Legacy: What We Leave Behind
Parenting isn’t just about the day-to-day routines; it’s about the legacy we create. Our children are our living legacies, and the lessons we teach them—intentionally or not—shape who they become.
Seeing my daughter’s artwork made me realize that the values I strive to live by are taking root in her. She’s beginning to internalize them, making them her own.
Reflecting on this, I’m reminded of the importance of being intentional with the lessons we pass on. It’s not just about telling our children what to do or how to behave—it’s about living those values ourselves so they can see them in action.
Our children are always watching, whether punctuality, kindness, or perseverance. They learn from what we do as much as from what we say.
One day, they will reflect on those lessons to us, as my daughter did with her drawing.
III. On Gratitude: Cherishing the Small Moments
Receiving that heartfelt gift from my daughter made me pause and appreciate the importance of gratitude.
In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to overlook the small moments that truly matter. But these moments—like a simple drawing or a thoughtful word—remind us of what’s truly important.
Gratitude doesn’t always have to be about the big things. Often, it’s about recognizing and appreciating the small gestures that fill our lives with joy and meaning.
Today, I’m reminded to be thankful for the little things—like my daughter’s smile, artwork, and the love filling our home.
